Denim Inspiration
September 26, 2023
The Denim Inspiration event was held at the new Cone Denim offices in Revolution Mill, with the intention of focusing on the inspiration that denim designers, marketers, manufacturers, and vendors draw upon from historical artifacts.
Students from the Denim 101 class and other members from the community were invited to this happy hour event to network and hear from Cone Denim speakers.
Cone Denim shared with us their Found Collection; a collection of old blue jeans dating back to the early twentieth century that were found in an attic in 2009. A great story about the durability of the denim fabric, and also an interesting opportunity to look at materials and style to draw “inspiration” from old blue products.
Cone Denim also shared a historical swatch book, known as “King of Denims.” The King of Denims swatch book was used by sales representatives from Cone Mill in the 1940s. The fabrics within the book are still used today by Cone Denim as a tool when creating new fashion styles.
